I know this isn’t really a rock or a grunge song but you can’t deny it is a good song. When I think of Coldplay I always think of Yellow (and some other songs but mainly yellow) because of how catchy it is. It definitely wasn’t the first Coldplay song I’d ever listened to but when I heard it I started to listen to other Coldplay songs because of how much I enjoyed the song.
The first line was created purely by coincidence when the band were looking at the sky during the evening at the stars. The co-producer, Ken Nelson, asked the band to look at the stars which is what inspired Chris Martin, the lead singer, to write the melody which starts “look at the stars, look how they shine for you”.
Even though the song isn’t really in the rock and grunge genres of music, you can’t deny it’s still a really good song.
